A pure HTML5 retro arcade racing game, composed of a pseudo-3D road, procedural pixel art, and chiptune music; a single HTML file can be played directly in the browser.
NEON DRIFT '86 is a single-file, self-contained retro arcade racing game, about 240 KB, with no external assets, no dependencies, and no network requests. Double-click the HTML file or host it on a static server to play. Gameplay is pseudo-3D road racing: three levels in total (SUNSET STRIP, NEON NIGHT, SANDSTORM), two laps per level, checkpoint-based timing, and when time reaches zero it is GAME OVER; going off the road causes severe speed loss and shaking, but you can still drive back onto the track. Controls support keyboard (arrow keys/WASD to steer and accelerate/brake, Space handbrake drift, Enter start, Esc pause, M mute, F show frame rate), gamepad (left stick or D-pad to steer, RT throttle, LT brake), and touch (left half of the screen to steer, right half top for throttle and bottom for brake). Art and music are both procedurally generated: pixel visuals and scanline effects, plus chiptune music synthesized with Web Audio. The project is released under the MIT license. The author states that the whole thing (game design, ES5 modules, pixel art, music synthesis, and packaging tools) was produced by DeepSeek V4.1 Flash in a single session, and includes verification commands that can be rerun by yourself.
